03/02/21 - It's blackberry season.  The much hated "weed" is now offering a trade.  Ripening on paddock edges and forest margins.  The thorns make it a fun challenge.  (And the leaves make a nice tea, too.  Just add boiling water.)
28/01/21 - Acorns are falling!  Don't miss out on the delicious and nutritious gift from oak trees.  Auckland is full of oaks.  Collect acorns as soon as they fall.  Avoid cracked acorns.  Leave in the sun to dry for a week, shell acorns, soak in water, changing the water every day (this washes out the tannins).  After a few days, taste an acorn.  If it's no longer bitter, it's ready.  Roast in the oven or pound into flour. (See the 'Resources' page for a more detailed guide.)
